Our story

Nestled on Isle-aux-Allumettes, on the Ottawa River, in Quebec (Canada), Lupuline Hop Farm is the headquarters of our 7th generation family operation. The hop farm benefits from a geographical location, climate and growing conditions that give it a unique terroir. We have been growing 10 varieties of hops since 2010 and, as of 2020, we are the first hop farm in Eastern North America to have the growing rights to the El Dorado® variety!

Charles and Mireille, siblings and co-owners of the business, have put all their passion, care and attention into growing the farm to what you see today. Supported by their two long-time dedicated employees, Craig Chaput and Mike Lafrance, the success and expansion of the farm simply would not have been possible without them. They are part of our family farm.

As growers of a modest 17-acre hop farm, we are able to dry our hops at specific temperatures, harvest them within the ideal harvest window, and handle the crop with the utmost care.

We are a sustainable operation in the sense that we grow, harvest, dry, pellet and store hops on-site at the farm. We also market and distribute to local breweries. We understand that brewers need top quality hops, top quality processing and reliable and consistent quantity. These are our top priorities!

We have built our reputation so that people know that we stand behind our product and take every step necessary to ensure that our hops meet the high standards maintained by Lupuline Hop Farm.

Since we started our journey in 2010, we are confident that this year will be the best yet!

Responsibility and quality control

Regular monitoring is provided by the technical services of agronomist Julien Venne throughout the hop vegetation (from planting to harvest). The hops at Houblonnière Lupuline are grown using integrated pest management methods. The use of products is limited to what is strictly necessary to keep the presence of harmful organisms below the intervention threshold.

Production is rigorously controlled at harvest, upon arrival in the dryer, before packaging and until transformation into granules. Quality is judged according to the criteria of drying, color, cleanliness and absence of disease.
